- Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner (I love the writing, but not the pessimism and defeatism. Second reading.)
- The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, a Flavia deLuce Novel by Alan Bradley
- The Woman Behind The New Deal: the Life and Legacy of Frances Perkins–Social Security, Unemployment, Insurance, and the Minimum Wage by Kristin Downey (I really liked this.)
- The Book of Mormon (focus: charity, “and thus we see” editorial statements from Mormon, Moroni; qualities of the Savior; the Restoration & gathering)
- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (This reminds me that every sentence in a book CAN be amazing.)
- Demelza by Winston Graham
- At the Pulpit: 185 Years of Discourses by Latter-day Saint Women (I loved everything in this.)
- Enchantment by Orson Scott Card (not recommended)
- I Have Learned Five Things by Elaine Christensen (Good poetry)
- The Book of Mormon (focus: things we do “in his name;” leadership)
- The Book of Mormon (focus: sources of JOY)
- Why I don’t Hide My Freckles Anymore: Perspectives on True Beauty edited by LaNae Valentine and Lisa Tensmeyer Hansen (This will make you worry about every message about body image you have ever conveyed to your daughters.)
- When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi (Tender)
- The Orphan Keeper by Camron Wright (pretty good telling of an incredible story)
